A man and woman wanted in Fayette County were arrested in Panama City Beach Oct. 8 after investigators with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office alerted Panama City Beach detectives.
Ashley Baxley, 26, of College Park, and Joshua Christmas, 27, of College Park, were wanted on warrants out of Fayette County for theft by taking, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.
Investigators in Fayette County obtained warrants for Christmas and Baxley in connection with a motorcycle stolen in north Fayette County on Aug. 29, Babb said. The motorcycle was subsequently recovered, Babb added.
Panama City Beach investigators on Oct. 8 spotted the vehicle Christmas was reportedly driving to a local residence. Christmas was contacted and taken into custody without incident, according to media reports.
Baxley, who was staying at another location, attempted to evade officers by breaking into an adjoining condo when investigators arrived. Baxley was found hiding under a bed.
A search of Baxley’s condo revealed suspected stolen property along with unspecified quantities of hydrocodone, Xanax, marijuana, several ounces of a mixture of methamphetamine and water and drug paraphernalia. It is believed Baxley flushed a quantity of methamphetamine down the toilet before law enforcement could enter the room, according to media reports.
Baxley has a hold placed on her for extradition to Georgia due to the numerous charges she faces in Florida.
