Faculty and staff at Robert J. Burch Elementary School kicked the school year off with an outreach project working with one of their school partners (First Christian Church of Tyrone, Pastor, Dr. Dan Roberts).
The staff had an introductory activity where they each brought a donation item for a school in Tabarre, Haiti. Donation items included school supplies, clothing and hygiene items to send to the students at the Tabarre school.
The Head Master of the school visited Burch Elementary during pre-planning and was able to personally pick up the donations intended for the students at her school.
This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship between the two schools. Burch Elementary Principal, Felecia Spicer, believes in teaching students that kindness goes beyond the classroom; it extends into our community and our world. What a great way for the Burch faculty to model kindness for their students! Burch Principal, Felecia Spicer stated,
“There are so many elements to this ~ we are giving to children who are so desperately in need, we are giving back to our partner who has given so much to us, and we are bridging a gap between two places that are so different yet have so much in common,” she added.
