Fayette County deputies over the weekend made a number of arrests for the sale of methamphetamine and marijuana. An additional arrest was made when a caregiver working with handicapped individuals shot a co-worker in the leg.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Narcotics Team on March 21 conducted a drug investigation at the Sunoco station located at 2664 Ga. Highway 92 South that resulted in the arrest of two men, according to Sheriff Barry Babb.

Adam Womack, 23, of Griffin, was charged with four counts of sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and tampering with evidence, Babb said.

Fifty-year-old McDonough resident Ronnie Moore was charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and two counts of tampering with evidence, the sheriff said.

In another case, Babb said an arrest occurred on March 21 when deputies were conducting a road safety check at New Hope Road and Whitney Way. Babb said a 2008 Nissan Titan approached the checkpoint and deputies noticed the driver was spraying air freshener before rolling down his windows to speak to them.

Deputies identified the driver as 28-year-old Anthony Parker of Fairburn. The presence of smoke and the strong odor of burning marijuana led deputies to investigate further. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located several large bags containing approximately three pounds of suspected marijuana, said Babb. Parker was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Babb added.

And in another case, Babb said deputies on March 25 responded to 146 Vaughn Dr. in Fayetteville in reference to an aggravated assault. The investigation revealed that two caretakers were working in the residence for a business, “Shirley Home Away From Home,” and were caring for three adult handicapped patients, Babb said.

Babb said the two caretakers got into an altercation and one of the caretakers discharged two rounds from a handgun at the other caretaker. The victim was struck in the leg. The injury was superficial and the victim did not want to be transported to the hospital.

Babb said 27-year-old Ashley Jaunese Mason of Atlanta was arrested at the scene and was charged with aggravated assault.
