For her sixth birthday party, Alexandria Thompson, asked her friends to donate food in place of birthday gifts. “When she delivered the food to the Real Life Center, we were touched by her sweet and generous heart. She must have generous friends, too, as her car was full of food,” said Vicki Troyer, food drive coordinator.
“The Real Life Center exists to help individuals and families from all walks of life that are facing life’s unanticipated challenges. When hard times such as job loss, divorce, or health issues arise, having a safe place to turn to can not only meet immediate needs, but offer hope. The Real Life Center’s mission is to provide the necessities for daily living while equipping people for life,” Troyer said.
The food pantry is one of several programs offered. Last month they distributed over 17,000 pounds of food to families in the local community. Donations are always welcomed and can be dropped off anytime during regular hours: Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 12 noon, and Thursday, 5-7 p.m.
