Fayetteville resident Robert Caldwell is on the list for a liver transplant. His family and friends are presenting a concert on Feburary 9 to help him after he receives the transplant.
“The goal is to raise money for his personal transplant account for the Georgia Transplant Foundation,” Caldwell’s daughter Andrea explained. “After the transplant, he will be on medication for the rest of his life to keep his body and the new organ in agreement. The Georgia Transplant Foundation will match whatever is in his personal account.”
Caldwell, a retired mechanic from Delta, found out last spring he would need a liver transplant. He is on medication to prepare for the transplant and is now just waiting for the call.
“He is doing as well as he can for as sick as he is,” Andrea stated, adding that the support from family, friends and fellow church members has been amazing. “My father is really involved in his church and many of the members have said they are excited to be there for him as he has always been there for them.”
The concert will take place from 7:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church (152 Antioch Rd.) in Fayetteville. Andrea, a voice teacher and recently the musical director for Twilight Theatre’s production of “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” will perform selections from musical theater, while her brother Keith, and Jason Bowen, the music director at Heritage Christian Church, will also perform. In addition to Christian and Pop, there will also be some classical music selections and possibly more guests as well. The concert is free but donations will be accepted. All donations should be made out to Georgia Transplant Foundation with Robert Caldwell written in the memo line.
“Everyone has been gracious with their donations and their time,” Andrea said. “I am humbled by the response.”
