Fryer blaze shutters S. F’ville Wendy’s for 2 weeks

An early morning fire at the Wendy’s restaurant in south Fayetteville Tuesday has resulted in the store being closed for interior repairs, a company spokesperson said.

The fire was started by a fry cooker that caught fire, and firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze, said Wendy’s spokesman Denny Lynch.

The restaurant, located off Ga. Highway 85 south at the Summit Point shopping center, was closed at the time and no one was inside when the fire occurred, Lynch said.

The store, which was damaged by the smoke from the fire, is expected to be closed about two weeks, Lynch said.
