A 19-year-old Peachtree City man has been sentenced to six years in prison for a golf cart theft spree in August 2011.

Trey Allen Doxie of 412 N. Peachtree Parkway entered a guilty plea to six felony counts of theft of a motor vehicle April 19.

Doxie admitted to stealing six golf carts in all: four from the Interlochen subdivision and two from the Rockspray subdivision.

Except for one of the Rockspray thefts, which occurred in early August, the other five occurred on the same day: Aug. 27, according to court documents.

Doxie was arrested in a matter of days following the Aug. 27 thefts. At the time, Doxie was on probation for forgery for passing a counterfeit $20 bill at Starr’s Mill High School.

On that forgery charge, Doxie was initially granted first offender status, which gave him the opportunity to have his record cleared if he could complete his probation without being charged with another crime.

But his first offender status was revoked following his arrest on the golf cart theft charges.

Doxie also violated his probation twice prior to the golf cart theft arrest, according to court records.
