Three Fayetteville homes were burglarized in a two-day period of Jan. 10 and 11 and a fourth residence experienced a break-in. Stolen in the burglaries were guns, a laptop and a washer and dryer.

The burglary on Jan. 10 occurred on Orchard View off South Jeff Davis Drive. Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw said the homeowner left home at 6:15 pm. and returned just over two hours later. The man entered the home through the garage, finding items that had been in a bedroom laying on the floor in another room.

Officers were called to the location and determined that entry to the house had been made through a rear window.

Crawshaw said a search of the house showed that four guns had been stolen.

The Jan. 10 burglary on Orchard View was followed by another on Jan. 11 at the home next door. Crawshaw said the home was essentially vacant due to a foreclosure, though the owner had a few remaining items in the house.

The last time the owner had been at the house was on Jan. 8. When he arrived on Jan. 11 he found that the washer/dryer that was still to be moved had been stolen, Crawshaw said.

A second burglary on Jan. 11 occurred on Forest Avenue. The homeowner returned home at 6 p.m. after having left that morning, Crawshaw said. Upon returning home the woman found the bottom lock on the front door unlocked, adding that the woman also found the back door unlocked, Crawshaw added.

A check with her husband showed that he had not been home that day. At his request the woman checked the home office for her husband’s laptop and found it missing, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw said the couple believe the theft might have been by a relative.

There was also a break-in on Jan. 11 that occurred at an apartment on Knight Way. The female resident arrived home at 5:15 p.m. to find that her front door had been busted in, said Crawshaw.

Officers arriving at the scene entered the home with the woman but found nothing missing. Crawshaw said the only thing found out of place were sofa cushions that had been tampered with and some Tupperware containers in the kitchen that had been moved around. Officers also found a small amount of suspected marijuana residue on a table in the living room, Crawshaw added.

Crawshaw noted that the Playstation and three flat screen televisions in the living room were left undisturbed.
