Many patrons consider the annual concert Christmas with the Southern Crescent Chorale to be the official beginning of the holiday season. This year’s concert will again be a fantastic way to begin your celebrations. Sponsored by Fayetteville Edward Jones Financial Advisors Bruce Dickerson and Michele Hall, the concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City.

Our special guests will be the internationally recognized Spivey Hall Tour Choir. The Spivey Hall Tour Choir, under the auspices of Clayton State University is the most advanced ensemble of the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir Program. As cultural ambassadors of the State of Georgia, the Tour Choir has performed to acclaim throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Sweden, Norway, England, Austria, the Czech Republic, and China. They will be in Scotland and England summer of 2012 performing venues such as St. Martin in the Fields, Royal College of Music, St. Giles Cathedral and in Newcastle City Concert Hall’s pre-Olympic festivities. Singing with unmistakable spirit, refinement, and remarkable beauty of tone and expression, these outstanding young musicians proudly represent Spivey Hall’s dedication to music education and commitment to artistic excellence.

The concert “A World Christmas Festival” features holiday favorites such as Silent Night, I Saw Three Ships, and Bring a Torch. Ralph Vaughn Williams’ stunning work “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” will be a highlight of the concert. Soloist for this work will be internationally acclaimed baritone, Brent Davis. Davis’ performance schedule this season includes the roles of Masetto and title role cover in Don Giovanni with The Atlanta Opera, Marcello in La Bohème with University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and Guglielmo in Cosí fan tutte with Asheville Lyric Opera. Mr. Davis has also performed as a soloist with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. In addition, local favorite, Rick Massengale, will perform solos on the organ. The Southern Crescent Chorale will also sing a cappella pieces which will spotlight the subtle musical nuances for which the Chorale has become known.
