A Senoia man was arrested today on several charges stemming from the investigation of a suspicious man interacting with students at several Peachtree City school bus stops, police said. Damien Lee Yerger, 24, of Autumn Creek Drive, Senoia was charged with two felony counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes and three misdemeanor counts of loitering/prowling, police said.
Yerger confessed to being involved in the incidents, officials said.
Police began to alert the public Monday about an adult white male suspicious person who was spotted at the bus stop at Balmoral Village apartments on Oct. 26 and 27 who spoke with two juveniles, told them they looked “pretty” and invited them to sit in his car because it was cold, police said. The suspect, who was believed to be in a gray Honda Pilot SUV, would leave the scene after the juveniles either declined or left the area, police said.
In addition to alerting the media and the public through the city’s computer messaging system, police increased patrols, interviewed witnesses and developed leads from citizens that led them to Yerger’s Senoia residence, where his gray Honda Element SUV was also located.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Peachtree CIty police at 770-631-2510 or the department’s crime and narcotics information hotline at 770-487-6010. Callers may remain anonymous.
