Now in its fourth year, the Cemetery Walk will entertain folks once again for one night only on Saturday, Oct. 22. The nearby museum’s “Spirit Guides” will take visitors on a guided walking tour through the Historic City Cemetery in Downtown Fayetteville. The tour will stop at different gravesites where visitors will meet “spirits from beyond the grave” and learn about local history through interesting tales that shaped the early days of Fayette County.

Some of the stories told will include the great cyclone of 1892, the hardships of fighting soldiers in the Civil War and Fayetteville’s local ties to Doc Holliday and Margaret Mitchell.

Tours will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, between 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Admission is $5 adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Tickets are on sale now at the Fayetteville Train Depot/Welcome Center and at the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum during regular business hours. Tickets will also be available at the cemetery that night.

Anyone purchasing a ticket can also visit the museum that night to view the paranormal findings and analysis from a study group performed back in the summer, and also view the special Mourning Rituals exhibit featuring Victorian Mourning Styles & Rituals. Artifacts include mourning jewelry, gowns and letters from the 1800s.

For more information about these events call Fayetteville Main Street at 770-719-4173 or visit the city’s Event page on their website at www.Fayetteville-GA.gov. Also stay current with the latest news on Facebook “City of Fayetteville, GA.”
