Chili cookoff in Fayetteville Saturday

Fayette Shrine Club and Fayetteville Main Street will host the first Old Courthouse Chili Fest and Competition on the lawn of the historic courthouse in downtown Fayetteville on Saturday, Oct. 15 beginning at noon. Over 25 different cooks will be competing and showcasing their best chili and salsa recipes. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, and the public will also vote to select a people’s choice award for chili and a people’s choice award for salsa.

The public is invited to taste chilis and salsas for a small donation between12 and 3 p.m. A live DJ will be playing some old time favorites throughout the event, and select arts and crafts booths will be on display.

All proceeds for this event will support Shriner Hospitals for Children. Shriners support a network of 22 Hospitals for Children that provide specialty care for burn care, spinal cord injury care, cleft lip and palate care and orthopedic care. Shriners Hospitals for children relies on donations of Shriners and the general public. All care is provided regardless of the patients’ ability to pay.
