Qualifying for city council elections in the cities of Coweta County is a couple of months away. Qualifying for the Nov. 8 election will begin in late August for seats in Senoia, Sharpsburg, Palmetto and Newnan.
Senoia will have qualifying for the two city council seats held by Bobby Graham and Maurice Grover. The qualifying fee is $90 for the at-large election to be held on Nov. 8.
Qualifying dates will be held Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and on Sept. 2 from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Sharpsburg also has seats up in November. Qualifying will include the position held by Mayor Wendell Staley and for council seats held by Celene Davenport and Connie Turner. All seats include at-large voting.
The qualifying fee for mayor is $50 and $25 for council seats.
The qualifying dates for Sharpsburg begin Aug. 31 and extend through Sept. 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Qualifying in Palmetto will include the positions held by Mayor John Miller and the seats held by council members Lorraine Allen, Natalie McFadden and Leon Sumlin. The qualifying fee for the positions include $90 for mayor and $45 for council seats.
All elected positions are determined by at-large voting.
Qualifying dates for Palmetto seats will run from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Newnan will have a qualifying period for four council seats. Those seats will include Ward A held by Clayton W. Hicks, Ward C held by Cynthia Jenkins, Ward D held by Bob Coggin and the Ward F Super district seat held by George Alexander. Ward F consists of the residents of Ward C and Ward D.
Qualifying fees for Newnan City Council seats is $165.
Qualifying for the Newnan election begins Aug. 29 and runs through Aug. 31 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
