Planning Commission May 9 Meeting – Public Hearings to Be Continued
At tonight’s Planning Commission meeting (Monday, May 9), the advertised Public Hearings on the Oasis Bowling Center’s Special Use Permit and the Line Creek Retail project will be continued until Monday, June 13 without comment.
National Travel and Tourism Week – Be a Tourist in Your Home Town
This week is National Travel & Tourism Week, and the Peachtree City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has a lot going on! Stop by the Visitors Center on McIntosh Trail for the first of the official PTC 4th of July T-shirts ($10). Submit your pictures of you favorite PTC places on the CVB’s Facebook Page for a great 4th of July Prize Pack. The Tourist Contest winner will be announced and the week comes to a close at the Creedence Clearwater Revisited Concert at “The Fred” on Saturday, May 14. Graduation Signs
It is graduation sign time again. No permit is required for signs on private residential property (limit 5’ in height, 16 sq. ft. total area). Signs at neighborhood entrances that do not exceed 35 sq. ft. can be placed between May 1 and June 12 without a permit or permit fee. The City waives the permit requirement and associated $30 fee for graduation banners placed at subdivision entrances from May 1 to June 12. Banners cannot be attached to fences, trees, utility poles/boxes, or traffic control devices/signs. Gone With the Wind expert to speak at the Peachtree City Library – Saturday, May 21
The Friends of the PTC Library will host renowned Gone with the Wind expert Herb Bridges for a presentation that chronicles the early life of Margaret Mitchell in Atlanta and explore the writing of her epic novel, “Gone with the Wind.” The program is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at 1:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Peachtree City Library. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
Attention Middle School Parents: Gang Awareness & Internet Safety Program
On Tuesday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m., the PTC Police and J. C. Booth Middle School will hold a community forum and educational outreach program on gangs and Internet safety. The event will be held at J.C. Booth Middle School, 250 Peachtree Parkway South. The first part of the program is designed to educate and assist the parents of middle school aged children with recognizing signs of gang activity, ways to identify potential gang involvement, and how to report any problems quickly. The second part will assist parents in recognizing inappropriate conduct, contact, and content that children are being exposed to on the Internet and ways to help protect them. Senior Caregivers Resource Expo on May 18
Fayette Senior Services will host a Caregivers Resource Expo on Wednesday, May 18, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at their facility at 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville. The expo is designed to help individuals and families better manage the often-daunting responsibilities of caring for a loved one by connecting them with community resources. Peachtree City Celebrates the 4th of July
Peachtree City’s parade, fireworks, and other events celebrating Independence Day will be held on Monday, July 4. Parade registration begins on Wednesday, June 1, at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building on McIntosh Trail.
