All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City last Sunday began Holy Week celebrating the triumphal arrival of Jesus Christ on a donkey into Jerusalem. The service featured an outdoor processional that included a donkey, the Liturgy of the palms, “Roman soldiers” and chanting songs of praise.

During the service, Holy Communion was served and children read the Gospel account of Jesus’ betrayal, conviction and death.

At the conclusion of the service, those attending left the sanctuary in silence as the disciples themselves left Calvary in a state of confusion and dismay.

The heart of All Saints Holy Week observance will be during the three sacred days of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

On Thursday, April 21, Maundy Thursday communion and commemoration will begin at 7 p.m. followed by an all night prayer vigil.

On Friday, April 22, All Saints joins with other churches in Peachtree City in a noon Community Service at the First Baptist Church and and will celebrate a 7 p.m. Good Friday service at All Saints.

Holy Saturday, April 23, features Morning Prayer at 9 a.m..

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Luthersville farm of Bill and Gail Coffee. The donkey “Monty” that was part of the processional is owned by the Coffees.

Easter services on April 24 will be at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
