Senoia is currently working with Atlanta-based MACTEC Engineering and Consulting to determine residents’ recreational preferences and to develop the city’s master recreation plan. But to develop the plan citizen input is needed. And to accomplish that the city has a survey up and running through March 23.

MACTEC senior planner Paige Hatley said the recreation master plan will recommend specific projects to address recreation needs over the next 10 years.

Recommendations could include improvements to existing parks and facilities, the creation of new recreation sites and facilities and the addition of new programs. A summary of all applicable federal, state, regional and local funding mechanisms will accompany the project recommendations, said Hatley.

Hatley said the city will use the survey, which will remain open through March 23, to develop the city-wide recreation master plan. The recreation master plan will assess existing conditions, including local parks and recreation programs, as well as trends, issues and needs, Hatley said.

The survey can be accessed on the city’s website at http://www.senoia.com or residents can pick up a print version of the survey at city hall, located at 80 Main Street.

City administrator Richard Ferry said the city hopes to finalize the recreation master plan by early summer.

“When finished we’ll use this plan to guide development of our recreation system based on the documented needs of our residents,” Ferry said.
