Sheriffs arrest 2 for ID fraud

Two men have been arrested by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for two unrelated incidents involving check-related identity fraud.

Rontavis Walker, 27, of Hampton has been charged with three counts of identity fraud, according to sheriff’s investigators.

He was arrested Feb. 23 for fraudulently depositing three checks belonging to a Fayette County business into his bank account, officials said.

The deposits were made Sept. 10, 2010, investigators said.

In a separate incident, Edmond Brown, 45, of Fayetteville was arrested March 7 for forging and depositing a check into his bank account with SunTrust in Fayetteville. Brown was charged with one count of identity fraud and one count of forgery in the first degree.
