George William Bishop, age 91, of Fayetteville, died at Henry County Medical Center on February 11, 2011.
He was born June 13, 1919 in Aucilla, FL, the son of George Thomas Bishop and Alice Eva Anderson Bishop. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his sister Vera Bishop Jones. Mr. Bishop was retired from Delta Airlines and he had a septic tank business for many years in the Fayette County area. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Okinawa. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Gaskins Bishop; daughter LuAnn Cowan and her husband Dean; grandchildren, Christopher Cowan and his wife Katie, and Ashley Cowan; great granddaughter Rylee Schell. Also surviving Mr. Bishop are his brother Wilbur Hubert Bishop of Valdosta, GA, and a sister Muriel Bishop Taylor of Monticello, FL as well as three nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 14, 2011, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, GA and visitation on February 16, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Beggs Funeral Home, Monticello, FL, with graveside services to follow at Bishop Cemetery in Aucilla, FL.
