Mr. Oscar Cavender, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away on April 20, 2010.

Mr. Cavender proudly served his country during World War II, while enlisted in the US Navy. He was the founder of Cavender Pump and Water Systems and was a faithful member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Cavender was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Jean Cavender and his granddaughter, Autumn Cavender.

He is survived by his sons, David Cavender and his wife Carol, Anthony Cavender and his wife Vickie; daughters, Jean Lawson and her husband Greg, Joan Barge and her husband James; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Cross officiating. Mr. Cavender will lie in state at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
