The Rev. Marvin Curtis Taylor of Fayetteville, passed away on April 6, 2010 at the age of 83.

Marvin was a veteran of WWII, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Chief for twenty years prior to his retirement. After following the call to defend his country, he followed a greater calling to the ministry, serving as pastor of Churches in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and West Germany. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Marvin and his wife Nora met on a blind date in December of 1949, and were married eleven days later. Their marriage lasted sixty years.

He is survived by his wife Nora Elrod Taylor; sons Kurt Taylor and his wife Carol of Fayetteville, Mark Taylor and his wife Cathy of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren, Jimmy Taylor of Fayetteville, Michelle Taylor of Fayetteville, Norman Taylor and Zachary Taylor of Lexington Park, MD, Katie Mendez and her husband Oscar of Harper’s Ferry, West Virgina; great-grandchildren Alexandria Grace Taylor and Benjamin Cody Taylor of Fayetteville, Saidie Reenae Vaughn, Georgia Lufelia Mendez, and Walter Sherman Mendez of Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April12, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The Rev. Dr. David Chancey and the Rev. Morris Stephens will officiate. Burial will take place with military honors on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 12:30 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
