Peachtree City resident Griffin Tillman recently won highest honors in this year’s WordMasters Challenge – a national language arts competition entered by approximately 220,000 students annually, which consists of three separate meets held at intervals during the school year. Tillman is a fifth grader at Landmark Christian School in Peachtree City.

Competing in the difficult Blue Division of the Challenge, Tillman earned a perfect score in the year’s second meet, held in February. In the entire country only 275 fifth graders achieved at this level. The WordMasters Challenge encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning and is useful as preparation for the verbal SAT I, the SAT II in English, and the English A. P. exams in language and literature.
