A fire significantly damaged a home on Gelding Garth in Peachtree City Friday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived at 100 Gelding Garth, flames were visible from the rear of the home. The fire was deemed under control in about half an hour with about 20 firefighters responding to the scene, officials said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, which was reported to 911 by a neighbor who saw the flames, officials said. The fire caused extensive damage to the rear of the home.

Fire Marshal John Dailey said based on the facts determined at the scene the fire appears to have been accidental in nature, but an investigation will take place nonetheless, he added.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters worked to remove personal belongings from the home such as photos and a personal computer, officials said.
