Dorothy Bastian Galli, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at her home in Fayetteville surrounded by her family. She was born on Monday, June 13, 1932 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to the late Jacob and Ethel Bastian.

On Friday, September 11, 1953, Dorothy married Peter E. Galli. They were blessed with three children: Craig, Reed and Lora. Pete and Dorothy divorced in April of 1983. Dorothy excelled academically and graduated from the University of Nevada – Reno in 1953. She taught elementary school in Paradise, Nevada until she contracted polio in 1954. During her months in an iron lung, many remember Dorothy’s beautiful singing. She heroically battled polio and went on the raise her children. Her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for her family sustained her throughout her many health issues and personal challenges. All who knew her marveled at her cheerfulness and resilience.

Dorothy is preceed in death by her parents and brothers, Jarvis Bastian and Terry Bastian.

She is survived by her sons, Craig (Lark) Galli of Salt Lake City, Utah, Reed (Mary Ann) Galli of Fayetteville, Ga. and daughter; Lora (Steve) Gonda of Plano, Texas; sister, Ruth Ann Bondinell; brother, Phillip Bastian; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Peachtree City. Visitation will be held prior to service at the church. The family has asked donations be made to LDS Philanthropies www.ldsphilanthropies.org.
