Fayetteville, Ga. (July 30, 2020) — Due to the high overall census levels of the hospital, involving both Covid and non-Covid patients, Piedmont Fayette Hospital is restricting visitation throughout the hospital to one care partner, per patient, per day.

This includes patients in women’s services, outpatient areas in the hospital, and off-campus outpatient centers. One care partner will be allowed to stay overnight with the patient to assist with care.

Visiting hours will remain 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 6 p.m., entrance to the hospital will only be permitted through the East Entrance. Weekend visiting hours remain 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A care partner is designated by the patient and has a purposeful role in supporting the patient while receiving care at Piedmont Fayette. For comparison, a visitor does not have an integral role in the patient’s care and does not participate in care team activities.

All patient care partners are required to wear a mask at all times and masks must cover the mouth and nose. Care partners are asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines and remain in the patient’s room unless visiting the cafeteria, either Chick-fil-A location, or the chapel. A failure to adhere to the hospital’s safety requirements will result in the patient’s care partner being asked to leave.

All approved care partners must pass a health screening which includes checking of symptoms of acute respiratory illness and close contact with someone suspected to have Covid-19. Outside of a few exceptions, care partners will not be permitted into the room of a patient who is presumed or confirmed positive for Covid-19.

Friends and loved ones are urged to stay connected to patients using the phone, Skype, FaceTime, DUO, or Zoom. Messages and photos for patients can also be sent to PFHFeelTheLove@piedmont.org. Hospital greeters at the east and west entrances will also deliver personal items, such as flowers, cards, and gifts, to all patient rooms. However, no food or drinks will be accepted.

“We believe that limiting visitation to one care partner per patient provides the support our patients and staff need at this time, while also limiting the number of people at the hospital,” said Steve Porter, CEO of Piedmont Fayette. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation and recommend that anyone who is eligible but has not yet received the Covid-19 vaccine do so as soon as possible.”
