Keeping his distance from the flames, Fayetteville Cub Scout John Krmpotich cautiously places a worn U.S. flag in a barrel of fire during a ceremony Saturday to properly dispose of well-used American flags. American Legion Post 105 collects worn flags in a drop box at the log cabin in downtown Fayetteville and oversees the disposal process. This time organizers were able to save about 17 flags that were in good enough condition to be cleaned and re-used. Photo/John Munford.
