When Sany America began assembling heavy equipment at its brand-new Peachtree City plant earlier this year, its parent company from China was making its first investment in the United States, further extending its international capabilities. Now Sany’s worldwide operations are being recognized as a global force, having been included on the Financial Times magazine list of the world’s largest firms.

“We at Sany America are quite pleased that our parent company has made it to the FT Global 500 list,” said Sany America President Jack Tang. “Presently we rank 431st on the list and we project that placement to move much, much higher as our new R&D and manufacturing facility comes online in Peachtree City, Georgia,” Tang said.

This is the first time Sany has made the list, but the company’s aspirations are to climb the chart, specifically with its efforts in Peachtree City, which as of now assembles the company’s high-end concrete pump trucks and crawler cranes.

Sany ranks 431st on the list with a market capitalization of nearly $21.6 billion.

The company is on the heels of finishing its $60 million corporate headquarters here, which will house Sany America’s research and development team in addition to the manufacturing component. The company is also expanding in Europe as well.

“Sany has the formula for success in the American heavy equipment industry,” said Greg Trainer, Vice President of Sany America’s crawler crane division. “Within the next three to five years, we believe we could move into the top 100 companies measured in terms of market capitalization.”

Trainer noted that Sany has grown at an annualized rate for 50 percent for the past 10 years.

This year Sany America expected to surpass the 200 employee mark locally, increasing to 300 by the end of 2012.

In addition to Sany’s concrete pump trucks and crawler cranes, the Peachtree City facility will also assemble excavators, motor graders and the company’s first North American-specific product, the “RT” Global Rough Terrain Crane.

As the U.S. headquarters, the Peachtree City SANY America facility will also include R&D, sales, service, and distribution operations as well.

Sany’s U.S. campus is located south of Cooper Lighting a short distance off Ga. Highway 74 south.
