Update – April 6: The list of long-term care facilities sent out each Friday includes those with COVID-19 outbreaks (i.e. those with one case or more).
Original story: Two Fayette County long-term facilities are among 47 throughout Georgia which have experienced a COVID-19 outbreak as of April 1.
Information provided by the Ga. Department of Public Health (DPH) indicated that the Heartis Fayetteville and Gardens of Fayetteville facilities — both on Ga. Highway 54 West in Fayetteville — were among 47 long-term facilities in 21 Georgia counties where a COVID-19 outbreak has occurred.
This is the only information that will be provided regarding these outbreaks. Information about residents and or staff who are infected is considered protected health information and under HIPAA guidance cannot be released, DPH said.
DPH will provide a list of facilities each Friday.
It has also struck at Southland Rehabilitation and Long term care in Peachtree City. They are not giving family members enough info and I am very worried for my family member who is there.
This is the nightmare scenario. By the time we know it’s in a LTC facility it may have spread everywhere among the most vulnerable population. I don’t know if the staff at LTC facilities work in more than one location, but if so, that should probably be suspended for the duration of this pandemic.
