It should be possible to drive from Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville on Hwy. 54 all the way to Hwy. 74 in Peachtree City without hitting a red light.
It is a simple procedure of synchronizing the lights to be green considering the speed limits along the way. This has been more or less true for the 12 years I have lived in the county.
For the past month, the traffic lights have been virtually synchronized red. Notwithstanding the night-time construction currently going on, the congestion due to the traffic buildup from the red lights makes it infuriating and is creating dangerous situations due to driver impatience and risky passing.
Even if the lights are not under computer control, a pace car and a climbing crew could accomplish the task in one or two days (assuming they do it in both directions).
The cost would be minimal compared to the trouble and fuel consumption due to the delays the red lights cause. The two cities and the state DOT could cooperate to spread the cost around.
