Dorothy (Dee Dot) H. Shaw of Fayetteville, Ga,, formerly of Buford, Ga. passed away on December 18, 2017 after a four-year illness. Mrs. Shaw was born July 13, in Maysville, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Herbert D. and Thelma Vandiva Holman. She was the sole daughter of five children.
Dee was a 1949 graduate of Buford High School. After having her children, she rose through the ranks of nursing to become a professional registered nurse in a career spanning 40 years. She enjoyed helping and caring for others, going to church, maintaining her home, cooking, and most of all talking with her friends. Over the years she was a member at Sugar Hill Baptist, First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Liberty Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where she served for two years in the homebound visitation ministry.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and George Holman.
She is survived by her husband and caregiver, Joe Shaw; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Chan Roach of Buford, Ga., Barry and Jenny Roach of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Scott H. Roach of Leesburg, FL; and daughter and son-in-law Olinda Brock Rominger and her husband, Tony of Jackson County, Ga.; granddaughter, Diana Roach Blihovde and husband, Mark, and grandson, Matthew B. Roach; three great-grand-children, Stephen Black, Savannah and Brianna Blilovde; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert Holman, Jr. and wife, Betty, Jeanette Holman, Charles Holman and wife, Sharon; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service was held at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, Ga. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. Reverend Irvin Pearre officiated the service.
