Mrs. Shirley McKeehan Brooks 74, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016.
She was born in Black Star, Ky. to the late Smith and Hazel McKeehan. She then moved to Kettle Island, Ky. where she attended school, graduating from Bell County High School in 1960. Shirley moved to College Park, Ga. after her marriage in 1962. She worked as a kindergarten teacher as well as an optometric assistant. For over twenty years she has been an active member at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
Shirley is preceded in death by her sister, Pat LeFevers.
She is survived by her husband of 541⁄2 years, Bill Brooks, of Fayetteville; daughter, Gina and Steve Ayers, of Fayetteville; brother, Jon McKeehan, of Kettle Island Ky.; sister, Iris and Phillip Carter, of Kettle Island Ky.; aunt, Jewell and Dr. Robert Ogle, of Greenwood, Ind.; cousin, Dr. Mark and Annette Ogle, of Mt. Carmel, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Overton Chapel, Fayetteville First Baptist Church. The family received friends on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. A private burial will take place in Tennessee.
