A Company of Friends Theatrical Productions, Fayette County’s longest running theatre community theatre, is planning an amazing summer of fun, educational and creative theatre events. All events will be held at the Fayetteville Train Depot at 250 Lanier Ave. East in Fayetteville.
First up is the Second Annual Night of Stars, Talent Show. This popular show is looking for talented folks from 8 years to mature adults to audition June 27. Talent of any kind will be considered, as long as it’s family friendly! Ages: 8 to 12 at 4 p.m., ages: 13 to 16 years at 5:30 p.m. and ages 17 years through adult at 7 p.m. Show will be presented Friday, July 8, and there is a mandatory show run-through July 6 for all those who are chosen to participate. There is also a $15 entrance fee for all those cast, that will go toward the cash prizes for three age categories all who participate will also receive a beautiful ribbon of participation.
Up next is ACOF’s Summer Musical Production Camp. Designed to get everyone in the ACT, this two-week camp works toward presenting three performances to a public audience at the end of camp. This year’s show will be “Disney’s AristoCats, Kids” and camp will run July 18-29 Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily with performances being Sunday, July 31, at 2, 3:30 and 5 p.m.
All those attending will audition for roles and be cast, design costumes and sets, learn dances-songs-lines – staging – take part in theatre games and discover the magic of stage makeup. Camp is for ages: 8 to 17 years of age and the fee is $275 which includes a professionally done camp video of activities and final show. Half of the fee is due at time of registration and the remainder on first day of camp.
Finally, ACOF will hold open auditions Saturday, Juy 23, for their frosty play “The Snow Queen” for performers’ ages 6 to 15 years. This is not a musical, but will have music and dancing woven throughout the show. Ages: 6 to 9 should arrive at 2:00 p.m. with ages: 10 to 15 at 4:00 p.m. Performances are scheduled for Sept. 8-11 at The Fayetteville Train Depot. Each person cast will be responsible for a production fee of $75. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and a simple taught dance combination.
An audition workshop will be held Friday, July 22, 6-8:30 p.m. for those wanting to learn the audition dance and become familiar with the script before actual auditions. Workshop fee is $25 and space is limited.
