Swingin’ Medallions kick off holiday weekend

The Swingin’ Medaillions will be in town Friday, July 2 at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. Dubbed by Lewis Grizzard as ‘The Party Band of the South’, the concert kicks off the Independence Day celebrations in Peachtree City.

The Swingin’ Medallions, a 47-year musical tradition in the South, has a high-energy style which entertains audiences of all ages. Featuring an ever-popular horn section, the group effectively blends the sounds and music of yesterday and today. The band has performed throughout the nation in thousands of venues. Their diverse repertoire has made them overwhelming favorites with college audiences as well as the more mature rock and rollers. Best known for their hit “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love”, in 1966, it is still the signature song for the band.

In addition to the concert Friday evening, there is a full day of events lined up in Peachtree City on Saturday, July 3. Activities start Saturday morning at 9 a.m. when the annual Peachtree City Parade heads down Peachtree Parkway. From 2-4 p.m. the Peachtree City Fire Department Expo takes place at Drake Field, and then at 9:30 p.m. (or dusk) there are fireworks over Lake Peachtree.
