Fayette County deputies responding to an alarm call on July 31 found a forced entry into a house on Triple Creek Trail in north Fayette, disheveled contents in various rooms of the home and alarm boxes ripped off the walls.
The burglary occurred on July 31 while the homeowners were away on vacation, said Sheriff Barry Babb of the home on Triple Creek Trail off Westbridge Road.
The alarm call came in at approximately 3 p.m., Babb said, noting that deputies responding to the scene found the garage door open and the alarm box ripped off the wall.
An initial survey of the exterior showed that burglars got in by kicking in the back door, said Babb.
Once back-up arrived, deputies cleared the house and found no one inside. What was found showed evidence of rooms being rummaged through, clothing on the floor, a bed pushed off the box springs and evidence that drawers and closets had been searched, said Babb. Also noted were alarm boxes in other areas of the home that had ripped off the walls, Babb added.
Babb said a relative arrived and secured the alarm system.
It was not known at present what might have been taken from the home since the residents are on vacation, Babb said.
Babb said a witness reported seeing a gold or tan Ford Crown Victoria in the driveway approximately two hours prior to the alarm call.
Babb asked county residents to always keep an eye open for suspicious vehicles.
