Anti-crime event scheduled

A group of concerned community leaders and citizens has scheduled a press conference for Thursday, June 18, at 8:30 a.m. on the steps of the Fayette County Justice Center.

“The purpose of the press conference is to show opposition to recent violent crimes in Fayette County and to support local law enforcement and judicial officials to take appropriate actions against such crime,” according to a written statement.

The group announcing the event stressed that it is pro-law enforcement and if anyone attendance sees someone in uniform, to thank him or her for serving.

All are invited to attend what has also been billed “a non-partisan event.”

The Justice Center is at 1 Center Drive in Fayetteville.
