The Whitewater Wildcats are in the state baseball championship series for the second straight year.
Whitewater beat the Veterans High Warhawks 5-1 and 1-0 Monday on the road in the AAAA semifinals and will host Buford in a Saturday doubleheader. Game 3, if necessary, will be Monday.
Veterans High is in Houston County. Coincidentally, the last team to defeat Whitewater in the state playoffs is the Houston County Bears, who won last year’s AAAAA championship series in three games at Whitewater.
