The ninth annual Shamrock Run Road Race in Newnan is accepting applications for this year’s event, which is set for March 14 and will benefit Coweta Pregnancy Services.
The Newnan Junior Service League (NJSL) hosts the Shamrock Run, which offers 5K and 10K courses that are both USA Track and Field certified and also qualifiers for the Peachtree Road Race. The group also hosts a Leprechaun Dash fun run around Newnan’s historic town square to kick off the day.
The Leprechaun Dash begins at 7:45 a.m. and both the 5K and 10K will begin at 8 a.m.
The Shamrock Run is an annual fundraiser that benefits nonprofit grant recipients in the Coweta County area. This year’s recipient, Coweta Pregnancy Services, has been helping women and men facing unplanned pregnancies for more than 26 years. It provides pregnancy testing and counseling, limited ultrasound exams and parenting/mentoring classes to new and expectant parents. All services are free.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each of the 15 age groups as well as the top three overall male and female finishers.
Orion Racing has partnered with NJSL to professionally manage the finish line.
The event is a festive and family-friendly day. Stroller pushers and dog walkers are welcome to participate in the Leprechaun Dash and runners are encouraged to dress up in green costumes. Awards will be presented for the most creative green costume on an adult and also on a child under 12-years-old.
