Students from each of Fayette County’s middle and high schools participated in the countywide Science and Engineering Fair earlier this month hoping to win a ticket to the regional event in Griffin.
Only first place winners advance to the regional fair set for Feb. 3. Winners there will move on the state fair.
An impressive turnout of 132 students presented 84 projects — some as teams and some as individual — on Jan. 13 at the LaFayette Educational Center in Fayetteville. A community-based judging panel evaluated each project, and interviewed students about their research and findings.
Altogether, 40 Fayette students will advance to the regional competition.
