BP, lawyers and the environmental trough

I would like to give another side to David Browning’s letter of Sept. 17. In the first place I would not consider it gross negligence, only negligence. It could be gross negligence not drilling for oil off the coast of California that regularly washes up on the beaches because of natural leaching from the ocean floor.

Very little damage has been done to the ecology of the Gulf. The fishing and shrimping is actually better because of the area being closed for a period of time. Bacteria have eaten most of the oil and you will not find any soiled beaches in the Gulf from the BP oil spill. There is natural leaching from the Gulf floor all the time.

If you don’t listen to anybody but mainstream media and the left wing ecology radicals, you will never hear common sense.

BP established a fund with hundreds of millions of dollars for paying damages at the outset of the spill. Like all other funds like that, it will probably support lawyers for years to come, just like the asbestos fund. I know you see on TV all the time lawyers advertising for lawsuits from people. Well, this money is usually coming out of damage funds. If you have a story good enough for a lawyer, then you can get money from these funds. If you lose on one lawsuit, you can make up another story. The money will be there for a long time to come.

Criminal behavior is deliberate, and I find it hard to believe BP would deliberately do this. This is language that socialist and Marxists use to destroy companies and create a distrust of business. It is regularly used in Russia and China in order to take a company away from one and give it to another. I find it more criminal where the president refused to allow all the methods at his disposal to keep the oil away from the coast.

The air and water in this country are the cleanest of any major country anywhere in the world because of our corporations, bar none. When any country wants solutions for their environment, they come to the United States because we have the technology.

The courts and the government are corrupt. In case you missed it, the climate change people have been caught in numerous lies and propaganda. The judges play along with the lies and issue orders to push the lies. I know you didn’t see the report on all the left wing organizations getting money out of all settlements with the banks over the housing crises. The Justice Department even loaded up an offshoot of the organization that was Acorn with money. In the end no corporation pays any fines or anything, because it just goes into the product or service that the customer has to pay, because there is no other source of money.

I think you have got the power structure wrong in that the environmental people have way more power than the size of their organization.

As I am writing this there are 300,000 climate change people in New York City that have been bussed in from all over the world. It took a great deal of money for air fares and busses to get those people there and to house them and feed them. All of the professional-made signs weren’t cheap. Much of the money comes from foreign governments because they know the EPA is choking the life out of the United States and they are anxious to help such as Russia and Saudi Arabia. They are both afraid they are going to be hurt bad from our supply of oil and gas.

The Saudis have already said so. By the way the demonstrators trashed the city as the people on the Left usually do and before it was over they were trying to intimidate the police to violence.

The Citizen United Decision was a boon to people on the right because the left had access to these sources of money for a long time.

This country is not a democracy; it is a republic, that is, a country of laws.

If the courts and government throws the book at BP, it will just drive up the price of gas. On a gallon of gas the oil companies only make about 9 to 12 cents a gallon, while the governments make about 50 cents a gallon. We need all these corporations and companies that the Left is bashing right now because we are hurting for jobs. In the United States BP employs 250,000 people.
