Beer tastings may be on tap in PTC

A new business in Peachtree City is asking the city for help in its internal marketing efforts to sell specially brewed craft beers.

Gremlin Growlers specifically wants to allow customers to purchase small samples so customers can choose which flavor they’d like to bring home in a sealed 32 or 64-ounce container called a growler.

Gremlin is asking the city to amend its ordinances to allow the sale of a “tasting glass” so customers could sample up to four different beers in a volume of no more than 2 ounces each.

“It’s just enough to give you the flavor profile,” said Gremlin Growlers owner Glenn Gresham.

The city recently revised its ordinances to allow grocery stores such as Kroger to conduct wine tastings, and several council members noted this is a similar concept: providing small samples in the hopes of sales.

Gremlin Growlers is located next to Big Daddy’s Oyster Pub in the Peachtree Crossings shopping center.

Staff is expected to draft the changes to the alcohol ordinance so it can be amended in the future for businesses such as Gremlin Growlers. There was no opposition to the request at the Oct. 4 council meeting.
