A different kind of economic development is coming to Coweta County. Different for a recession, that is. The new Don Jackson Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership is currently under construction in east Coweta along Ga. Highway 34 across from the Summit Family YMCA.

Located at Hollz Parkway and Hwy. 34 across from the Summit YMCA, the 21,410 square-foot facility will be situated on 6.02 acres. Land planner and landscape architect Dennis Drewyer said the state of the art dealership and campus will be built to the highest quality corridor standards regarding size, scale, architectural facade and building materials.

Don Jackson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram representatives could not be reached for the estimated opening date. Don Jackson also operates a dealership in Union City.

“We’re happy to have Don Jackson as part of the business community here in Coweta. This will bring an established business and an established name to Coweta County,” Coweta County Administrator Theron Gay said of the work underway at the new dealership. Gay noted that it had been several years since a dealership selling the same new car brands had been located in the county. “And it will be nice to have the brands back in Coweta for the owners of those brands.”

Commenting on the new location on Hwy. 34, Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Candace Boothby welcomed the Don Jackson dealership to Coweta County.

“As the front door to prosperity, Coweta County is the ultimate place to grow your business and your family. Coweta County is a strong community, strategically positioned to provide all the amenities crucial to fostering prosperous industry growth and development. We look forward to welcoming Don Jackson Chrysler Jeep into the community as we continue our successful trend with new and expanding businesses,” Boothby said.

As for the look of the new dealership, Drewyer said landscape plan calls for over 250 nursery grown canopy, flowering and evergreen trees which replace the formerly stark cover of overcut pines, poplars and sweetgums from generations past.

Drewyer has been involved in a number of projects in Fayette and Coweta counties.

Coweta County’s economic development continues to defy aspects of the lingering recession. The past few years has seen a significant increase in the construction of healthcare facilities in the form of doctor’s offices and clinics around the county. Larger facilities include the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Poplar Road and the new Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospital at Ashley Park. And while Coweta during the recessionary years has seen new retail development at Ashley Park and in other areas around Newnan, the construction of a new car dealership marks another chapter in what Boothby described as Coweta County representing the front door to prosperity.
