Peachtree City, Georgia — Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field (FFC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $9,925,000 in federal funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), a significant investment that will enhance aviation safety, operational efficiency, and long-term economic development throughout Fayette County and the surrounding region.
The funding, announced by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will support the construction of Falcon Field’s new air traffic control tower, a transformational project that will strengthen the airport’s ability to safely accommodate growing aviation activity while supporting the airport’s role as a critical transportation asset for metro Atlanta and the State of Georgia.
The new control tower is expected to become operational by February 2028, providing air traffic services that will enhance situational awareness, improve aircraft movement efficiency, and further strengthen Falcon Field’s commitment to the highest standards of aviation safety.
“This investment represents a major milestone for Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field and the communities we serve,” said Airport Director Hope Macaluso. “The new air traffic control tower will significantly improve operational capabilities and position Falcon Field to better meet aviation demands while continuing to serve as an economic engine for our region.”
Airport officials expressed their gratitude to Congressman Brian Jack for his leadership and support in helping secure the federal funding.
“We are especially grateful to Congressman Brian Jack for his efforts in advocating for this important project,” said Hope Macaluso. “His support was instrumental in helping bring this critical infrastructure investment to our community. This funding will have lasting benefits for aviation safety, economic growth, and regional connectivity for decades to come.”
Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field serves as one of Georgia’s premier general aviation airports, supporting business aviation, flight training, aircraft maintenance operations, and emergency services while contributing substantially to the local and regional economy.
Additional project details and construction timelines will be announced as the project advances toward its anticipated completion and operational launch in 2028.
