Volunteer supporters of Southern Cresent Indivisible will hold a “Save America!” rally on Saturday, Jan. 31 between noon and 1:30 p.m. in front of the Old Fayette County Courthouse, 204 Glynn St., Fayetteville.
The focus of the peaceful event will be to show local support for the founding principles of American democracy, due process, fair elections and responsible law enforcement in the wake of increasingly disturbing actions across the country by federal officials, both elected and unelected, that threaten the freedoms provided in the U.S. Constitution.
Event organizer Irene Cheyne of SCI said, “We are seeing ever-growing numbers of our friends, neighbors and co-workers being motivated to speak out against unlawful and dangerous actions by federal forces seeking to undermine our civil liberties. This event will help show our fellow citizens and our elected officials that we will not stay silent while others among us undermine our democratic principles.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own signs reflecting their opinions, but signs created by other volunteers will also be shared to anyone who wants one. Southern Crescent Indivisible is a diverse and dedicated volunteer group consisting of residents of Fayette, Coweta, Butts, Clayton, Henry, Lamar, Spalding, Pike and Upson counties.
