At Workout Anytime Tyrone, fitness is more than a goal ā itās a mission. The gym, owned by retired U.S. Army Major John Hall and his wife Tamra Hall, brings military discipline, structure, and community service together under one roof.
Hall served 20 years in the Armyās Air Defense Artillery, stationed around the world in Germany, Hawaii, Alabama, Texas, and other locations. After retiring from active duty, he continued serving the country as a Department of Defense analyst for nine years. He also spent time as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Tuskegee University, mentoring future leaders and reinforcing the importance of physical fitness and mental resilience.
When it came time to transition into civilian life, Hall knew he wanted to continue promoting wellness and helping others achieve their best. His military career had instilled in him a deep belief that physical health fuels confidence, productivity, and overall readiness for lifeās challenges. That passion led him into entrepreneurship and to opening Workout Anytime Tyrone nine years ago.
The gym, located at 1520 Hwy 74 N. Tyrone, GA in the Publix Southampton Village, offers 24/7 access, personal training, and a wide range of equipment for members at every fitness level. What sets it apart is the environment Hall has cultivated. Drawing from his experience in the Army, he operates the business with a strong emphasis on teamwork, accountability, and integrity. His approach focuses on building a supportive team, maintaining high expectations, and ensuring members feel valued and encouraged.
Over the years, Hall has hired veterans and active-duty reservists and continues to mentor service members who are interested in transitioning into civilian careers or entrepreneurship. He believes veterans bring discipline, leadership, and the ability to adapt ā qualities that translate well into business and the fitness industry. He actively encourages service members to explore business ownership or careers where their skills and leadership experience are recognized.
The Halls are deeply rooted in the local community. They have lived in Fayetteville for more than 25 years, and their gym in Tyrone serves the same community they call home. Tamra, co-owner of the gym, retired from the VA as a clinical social worker specializing in veteran care. Their shared military and veteran support background influences the work they do both inside and outside the gym.
Workout Anytime Tyrone sponsors local schools, youth sports programs, and church initiatives and consistently looks for ways to give back. For the Halls, community involvement isnāt a business strategy ā itās a continuation of their commitment to service.
As the business approaches its tenth year, the mission remains focused: providing a welcoming, encouraging space where members can build strength, improve health, and find confidence through consistency.
