Across Fayette and Coweta Counties, economic pressures are leading more families to face food insecurity. Organizations in the two counties are responding, providing food assistance programs and pantries to meet the needs of our neighbors.

Real Life Center

The Real Life Center, located in Tyrone, has introductory and full food assistance programs. Cultivating a market of fresh produce, bread and other perishable items to provide healthy groceries for clients once a week, the market partners with grocery stores to help citizens needing perishable goods.

Through the full member program, a pantry is available with nonperishable and household items once a month. Individuals interested in these programs can visit the Real Life Center Website’s services page for more details.

The Real LIfe Center also partners with Grace Church and the Atlanta Community Food Bank to provide a once-a-month food pantry. This pantry, unlike the introductory and full programs, is open to any Georgia resident. This pantry typically occurs on the third Thursday of every month at Grace Church in Fayetteville from check-in at 8:00 a.m. to when the pantry closes around 11:30 a.m. To register for this service, fill out the form linked here.

Anyone wanting to help with the Real Life’s Center’s cause may visit their donation page or their volunteer page for more information.

Bridging The Gap

Bridging The Gap, located in Newnan, Georgia, has a weekly food distribution program for families in Coweta County. This drive-up food pantry occurs every Saturday, feeding between 500-750 families each week with fresh produce, meats, pantry staples, and other essentials.

Residents wanting to give to Bridging The Gap’s cause may donate or volunteer to make a large impact in supporting their mission.

Fayette Samaritans

The Fayette Samaritans support families in Fayette County with food assistance, taking clients Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.-11:15 a.m. They are located behind the Fayetteville Christian Church and receive assistance from supporting churches and local organizations.

The Samaritans have both a wish list  and donations page where they list their highest priority needs for those who are willing to give. They always have a need for volunteers as well. Anyone interested in volunteering with the Fayette Samaritans can contact their office at 770-719-2707 or drop in during their client hours.

St. Gabriel’s St. Vincent de Paul

The I-58 Mission

The I-58 Mission in Senoia provides a food pantry open at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday mornings. The pantry opens following a devotional and remains open until 2:30 p.m. The I-58 Mission also provides clothes, household goods, and a baby room that are available to the public by appointment only.

To give to the I-58 Mission one can drop off donations Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. There is also an option to donate online, which can be done through their website.
