Fayetteville, Georgia (June 25, 2025) A Monday evening residential apartment fire was quickly contained and extinguished by Fayetteville firefighters, with one unit suffering fire damage and four other units suffering some smoke and water damage. Three people were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation, including one Fayetteville Police officer, and no one was transported.
Firefighters were dispatched at 7:21 p.m. Monday to the Equinox apartment homes community on Knight Way off Highway 54 East, and units from all three Fayetteville Fire Stations responded to the scene. Fayetteville Police officers also responded along with units from the Fayette County Department of Fire & Emergency Services. Police officers and some Equinox residents assisted in alerting and evacuating occupants located within the affected apartment building.
A total of five residential units were displaced due to fire, smoke, and water damage. Affected residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross, Equinox, and their family and friends.
Routine investigations by the Fayetteville Fire Marshal’s office are ongoing. The Fayetteville Building Inspector checked the building to verify the structural integrity and safety of the building for residents. The Fayetteville Fire Department and the Fayetteville Building Department are working with Equinox management to develop a plan to get repairs started.
