Fayetteville, Georgia – May 9, 2025 – The City of Fayetteville has closed the Great Lawn at City Center Park for six weeks beginning Friday, May 9, to accommodate a ground refurbishment project.

“The Great Lawn gets a lot of use throughout the year, which is what we want,” said Deputy Public Services Director Cajen Rhodes. “We are hoping this refurbishment process will improve soil and ground cover conditions, so that this popular amenity will be more durable and be even more useful in the months and years to come.”

Portions of the playground at City Center Park are also closed for structural repairs. No reopening dates for these structures have been set because contractors are still assessing existing conditions, and City staff are still considering various options. Updates will be posted on the City’s website, social media channels, and E-Mail Update.

Other City Center Park amenities remain open, including the hillside slides, tot lot playground, dog park, walking paths, picnic shelters, and more. The spray pad has also opened for the season: Saturdays and Sundays only throughout May, then Tuesdays through Sundays in June, July, and August. The spray pad will be open on Memorial Day and Labor Day as well.
