Nancy Paula Estrada, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025 at the age of 92. Born on March 11, 1932, in her parents’ home in Grant, Virginia, Nancy was the second oldest of seven children born to Paul Lorenzo Cox and Mabel Susie Bare.
Nancy married Armand Estrada and, through his career in the Air Force and FAA, together raised eight children while living a life full of adventure and travel. Her husband’s military career allowed the family to explore many corners of the world, both nationally and internationally.
Professionally, Nancy found fulfillment in her work with the National Parks and Recreational Service at the Richard Russell Federal Building in Atlanta, Georgia. Known for her conscientiousness and dedication, she earned numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, leaving a lasting legacy before her retirement.
Nancy was a woman of grace, strength, and resilience, devoted to her family and proud of their achievements. She knew love as a verb and cared for those around her with great intention. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, cherished her time with loved ones, and left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Nancy is preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara and Sharon, her brother Sam, and her son Armand. She is survived by seven of her eight children, Mark, Paul, Laura, Matt, Danny, Philip, and John, her siblings, Dan and Jim Cox, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her memory forward.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on May 17, where family and friends are invited to honor her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Cancer Society.
Nancy’s warmth, wisdom, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
