Every year is filled with excitement for the Tigers, but this one is extra special. Fayette County High will celebrate its centennial throughout the 2024-2025 school year.

To commemorate the milestone, the school will host a year-long celebration. It began with a goal to get 100 parents, guardians, and community members to welcome students back on the first day, and it continues with a schedule packed with highlights.

Notable Tigers will be invited back to the Pride. Past kings and queens will be recognized during homecoming week, and all living FCHS principals will participate in the Class of 2025 commencement.

Along the way there will be fun activities like a centennial poetry contest, a 100 days of trivia competition, and burial of a time capsule. The big party will be a Centennial of Excellence Spring Fling.

“Our school is a proud and honored staple in Fayette County, our traditions are steeped in academic excellence, perseverance, collaboration, respect, and a belief in one’s self to be the very best in all things, at all times, making a difference in our community and world,” said Principal Yolanda Briggs-Johnson.

The school is looking to the community to help with fundraising for special projects. The plan includes historic imagery panels for the main hall that showcase students and staff from over the last 100 years, along with special centennial signage and banners to adorn the campus. They also have designs on improving the school courtyard, along with benches, tables, and seating for outdoor classrooms.
