Dorothy Mae “Dot” Ensley, business woman and dedicated member of the community, passed away on March 30, 2024, in Stockbridge, Georgia.
She was born on October 16, 1932, in Albertville, Alabama. Dot lived a remarkable life that spanned 91 years.
Dot was a woman of great ambition and creativity, known for her entrepreneurial spirit. While raising a family, she attended night school at Dekalb Technical College to prepare her for a career in banking and general business. Throughout the years she started and ran numerous businesses, particularly in the restaurant industry. She continued her education and became very successful in Real Estate throughout the Fayette County area.
Her passion for serving others extended to her active involvement in community events. She coordinated many dinners and social activities to feed the local police and firefighters. Her organizational skills were valuable in many charity fundraisers, working with both young and old. A proud member of the Republican party, she was a long-standing hostess for the Republican Womens Auxiliary and supported many county government officials as they served Fayette County.
Dot was preceded in death by her son Guy Ensley, husband Pat Ensley, parents James and Geneva Black, brother Ed Black, and sister Diane Corley. She is survived by her loving children, Nathan (Beverly) Ensley and Norma (Bob) Wamsley, as well as her 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Dot is also survived by her brother Alton Halmark, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.
A woman of strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication, Dot Ensley will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories she created throughout her lifetime.
A private graveside service was held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. A memorial service will be planned for October to remember both Dot and Guy, who passed in January 2022.
