Philip Joseph “Phil” Hackl, 82, of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away surrounded by loved ones Saturday, February 17, 2024.

He was born to Joseph and Kathryn Tomke Hackl in Chicago, Illinois, Thursday, December 18, 1941. Phil was preceded by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pam Longland Hackl; his children, Terri (Steven) Amato, and Tina (Jeff) Terrell; his sister, Ginny (Frank) Comber; brother, Jim (Cheryl) Hackl; brother-in-law, Tom (Fundi) Longland; grandchildren, Nick (Meg) Amato, Mike (Jess) Amato, Juliana Amato, Ryan (Cassidy) Terrell, and Rachel Terrell; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Miles Amato and Leo Amato; along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family will host a celebration of life at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 101 Walt Banks Rd., Peachtree City GA 30276, on Saturday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. Phil will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery, in Des Plaines, Illinois at a later date.

We commemorate Phil for his military service, love for gardening, die-hard Illini fan and passion for playing golf, chess, bridge, and puzzles. Phil was never satisfied with sitting still and I do believe he is exploring heaven to attend his next Opera.
